Why We Do Not Use “TPO-Free” Claims

We understand why customers may notice that “TPO-free” is no longer highlighted on our website. This change is not because our products contain TPO. It reflects the current EU rules on cosmetic products and cosmetic claims.

Since 1 September 2025, Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide (TPO) has been prohibited in cosmetic products placed on, or made available on, the EU market. This means that cosmetic products containing TPO cannot legally be sold or supplied in the EU.

EU cosmetic-claim rules also require marketing claims to be fair and not present compliance with a legal minimum as a special product benefit. The Commission’s guidance on “free from” claims specifically states that such claims should not be made for ingredients prohibited under the EU Cosmetics Regulation. For that reason, presenting an EU cosmetic product as “TPO-free” could suggest a distinguishing advantage where TPO-free status is already a legal requirement for products sold in the EU. We therefore do not use TPO-free messaging as promotional advertising.
