Soap Nails: Why Korean Syrup Gels Suit This Glossy Manicure
Cover manicure: @mim_____n × Nailbayo. Glossy pink syrup-nail inspiration.
Soap nails are a minimalist manicure with sheer pink, nude or milky colour and a glossy finish. The natural nail remains visible beneath a delicate tint.
A soft wash of colour, a considered shape and plenty of shine give this manicure its character. At Pretty Yeppuda, our interpretation starts with a Korean syrup gel chosen for its shade and translucency.
For inspiration, read Harper’s Bazaar’s article on Céline Dion’s soap manicure. Its understated look provides a useful reference for your own appointment; the Korean products below are our styling suggestions.
Why are they called soap nails?
The name evokes freshly washed hands and the glossy sheen of wet soap. Sheer pink and milky shades add to that soft, fresh appearance. Soap is not an ingredient in this manicure: the name describes the visual effect. You do not need bubbles, a soap treatment or a special soap gel.
Why Korean syrup gels suit soap nails
Controlled transparency is the useful characteristic here. Selected Korean syrup gels provide a translucent wash that allows the natural nail to remain part of the finished look. Thin layers can build colour depth within the product’s application instructions.
Choose a soft pink for a gentle blush, beige for a neutral interpretation or a sheer white for a milkier finish. The individual shade matters: a syrup range can also include bold reds, blues and greens. Finish with a compatible glossy top gel.
Renewed Nailbayo DOI: nude syrup inspiration for soap nails

Nailbayo’s renewed DOI Nudi/Nudie collection contains 50 syrup colours. The brand describes DS01–DS10 as its basic nude line. Its current swatch post identifies DS01 as Nudi White, DS03 as Nudi Pink, DS08 as Nudi Skin and DS10 as Nudi Beige. These soft colour directions are useful starting points for a soap manicure.
The image shows the renewed numbered collection. Our currently listed named shades are separate catalogue listings; do not assume an old shade name identifies the same renewed formula or bottle. Explore NAILBAYO DOI NUDI GEL Dew Beige (10ml) and Nailbayo DOI Nudi Gel Oat (10ml) for neutral options, and compare the actual swatches with your technician. Check each listing for current availability.
VALLA Syrup 100 Colors and the soap-nails palette

VALLA Syrup 100 Color Collection is a syrup range, distinct from VALLA’s opaque VC 100-colour collection. For soap nails, focus on its pale pink and milky neutral directions rather than the entire colour spectrum.
The complete Syrup 100 set is not currently offered through a live product page in our shop. Individual options to explore include VALLA VS03 (Pink Soup Collection) - 10ml and VALLA VS04 (Pink Soup Collection) - 10ml. Compare their swatches for the amount of colour and transparency you want.
How to describe soap nails at your appointment
Bring a reference image and ask for three things: a softly shaped nail, a translucent neutral shade and a glossy finish. A short oval or soft square is an understated everyday option; a longer almond shape gives the same palette a different silhouette. Choose a length that suits your hands and routine.
Explain whether you prefer barely visible pink, warmer nude or milkier white. Keep embellishments minimal when you want the sheer colour and shine to be the focus.
Questions about soap nails
Are soap nails the same as syrup nails?
The terms overlap. Soap nails describe the finished aesthetic; syrup gel describes a translucent colour product that can help create it.
Do soap nails need glitter or chrome?
No. A simple glossy finish is enough for this interpretation. Sparkle or chrome creates a personal variation.
Which application instructions should my technician use?
Follow the selected gel system’s instructions, including the base, top and compatible lamp requirements. Observe each product’s professional-use designation and avoid uncured gel touching skin.
